Last night I went to see Efterklang perform at UT Connewitz in Leipzig. Their last concert at this wonderful place simply blew me away. The two make a perfect combination and I believe Efterklang know this.
So my anticipation was high.
After two, rather unspectacular support acts (Jersey and Early Day Miners) Efterklang took over the stage and the audience. It’s funny how a support act sometimes only works to reinforce the brillance of the main act.
It’s hard to put the concert into words, but you rarely see a band of such high proficency that at the same time seems to have so much fun on stage. Naturally, it has to spill over to the audience… and back to the band.
There were breaking drumsticks and flying cymbals, corals and geeky glasses behind a mac. There were amazing new songs from their forthcoming album, Magic Chairs, and there were also the moustaches that i already loved during their last gig. There was also the obligatory moment when they stand on the balcony of the UT Connewitz singing a-cappella, last time this was the beginning of the concert, this time the ending… almost.
I think you may quite frankly say that the concert left the audience bright-eyed and with a warm feeling in their stomachs… and looking at the pictures and this, it seems like the band felt quite the same.

peter ist ja auch wieder dabei.
